GROWTH HORMONE, PEPTIDE THERAPY & THE AGING PROCESS

Growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) is produced in the hypothalamus. Its principal function is to stimulate the pituitary gland to produce and release growth hormone into the bloodstream. When this stimulation happens, it virtually acts on every tissue in the body to control various physical functions and processes. Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is produced in the liver and among other organs in response to growth hormone, which in turn stimulates many tissues causing growth and other metabolic actions. When we have a growth hormone secretion, our bodies experience positive effects on food intake and processing, our memory and our sleep.

Somatostatin, is a hormone produced by the hypothalamus. The action of GHRH on the pituitary gland is counteracted by somatostatin, which prevents the growth hormone release. GH, GHRH, IGF-1 and somatostatin are regulated by one another, to maintain a balanced hormone production.

Growth hormone levels plateau in young adult life, mostly in our 20’s, and then decline progressively. In fact, our growth hormone declines up to 35% in our 30’s, 60% in our 40’s and 80% in our 60’s. This decrease produces a variety of age related signs and symptoms, including increase in abdominal fat, a loss of aerobic capacity and muscle mass. There are many peptides that can help with growth hormone.

Symptoms of Low Growth Hormone

  • Increased body fat
  • Increased belly (visceral) fat
  • Decreased bone density
  • Reduced exercise performance
  • Decreased max heart rate
  • Decreased physical and mental energy
  • Lack of libido
  • Cardiovascular problems
  • Increased waist-to-hip ratio
  • Muscle loss
  • Decreased strength
  • Reduced VO2 Max
  • Reduced resilience to stress
  • Lack of motivation
  • Increased need for sleep
  • Elevated blood pressure

Many of these symptoms have similarities with imbalances of other hormones. For example, low thyroid, low testosterone, elevated estrogen or excess cortisol also contribute to increased body fat, decreased physical and mental energy and reduced libido.  All patients are subject to labs to best determine your hormone and other levels.

Benefits of Increased Growth Hormone Levels

Aging often comes with many undesirable effects on our bodies including increased fat, decreased muscle mass and low energy. Some of these issues can be caused by adult growth hormone deficiency. Peptide therapies provide a healthy option to reinvigorate the natural release of growth hormone in the body and reverse the negative effects of aging.

The increased volume of GH produced by the pituitary gland causes an increase in the production of Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) by the liver.

The Benefits of Increased GH Levels Can Include

  • Descreased body fat
  • Increase muscle mass
  • Improves immune function
  • Improves fat burning
  • Optimize skin elasticity
  • Increased strength
  • Aid in connective tissue repair post injury
  • Improved energy
  • Improved quality of sleep
  • Helps combat insomnia
  • Increases physical and mental performance
  • Enhances calcium retention
  • Enhances calcium retention
  • Bone density Improves

Peptide Therapy

Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone Peptides (GHRH) are designed to increase the body’s production of naturally releasing more human growth hormone. These peptides work by stimulating the pituitary gland to create and excrete more HGH into the bloodstream. When this happens, our bodies experience a boost in protein production, blood sugar level regulation, and a cascade of other benefits as illustrated throughout this website.  On the other side, GHRPs or, Growth Hormone Releasing Peptides promote amino acid uptake, cause slow-wave sleep and bone growth, and regulate the effects of carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism.
